/dev: New Items in Patch 2.6

Dec 1, 2021

Patch 2.6 brings updated itemization through spell shields and support playstyles.

Hey again! Mike “RogueFool” Breese here ready to chat about the upcoming Patch 2.6 itemization update. It's been a while since my last post, where I mentioned a peek behind the veil, and our hope to ex-seed your expectations. I’m here to deliver on that promise and give you a preview of some of the changes you can take advantage of in the next patch for Wild Rift.

At a high level we have two sets of changes: spell shields, and more support items.

SHIELD YOURSELF

Have you been struggling against Veigar, or getting yoinked over the wall by the enemy Blitzcrank? (Don't worry, we have been too.) Or are you tired of jumping in as Kha'Zix trying to get that game winning pick just to instantly get polymorphed? If so, a Spell Shield might be just what the shopkeeper ordered. With the introduction of Banshee’s Veil and Edge of Night we hope to give players tools to protect themselves from these terrors.

BANSHEE’S VEIL

Mages have been lacking a good defensive tool against other magic wielders. Banshee's Veil allows mages to invest in some defense for themselves at the cost of slightly less Ability Power. This defense comes in the form of Magic Resist, but also a spell shield that will block the next ability that would otherwise hit you. This makes it great for protecting yourself against an enemy’s burst combo, or avoiding some key crowd control.

  • Total Cost: 3000g
    • Builds from Needlessly Large Rod (1440g) + Negatron Cloak (900g) + 660g
  • 70 Ability Power
  • 40 Magic Resist
  • 10 Ability Haste
  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Annul: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability.

EDGE OF NIGHT

Edge of Night is the sister item to Banshee’s Veil. Giving assassins and anyone else looking for some Armor Penetration a Spell Shield to protect against poke, but more importantly to give them a bit more time when jumping in 1v5 to kill the Jhin.

  • Total Cost: 3000g
    • Builds from Serrated Dirk (1000g) + Jaurim’s Fist (1200g) + 800g
  • 250 Health
  • 50 Attack Damage
  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Annul: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability.
  • PASSIVE - Gouge: 10 Armor Penetration

ENHANCING SUPPORTS

We want to show supports some love. After all, where would be without their shields, heals, and engages to save our butts? To start, we are introducing two new items focused around enhancing support playstyles: Hextech Megadrive and Ixtali Seedjar.

HEXTECH MEGADRIVE

Hextech Megadrive is all about amplifying your active items. It allows you to reduce your active item cooldowns through skillful use of your heals, shields, and when you immobilize your opponents. If you want to send out more spooky ghosts to catch fleeing opponents, get an extra Redemption heal mid team fight, or get another Locket shield to save your teammates from that last second burst, we think Hextech Megadrive might be just what your team needs to gain that extra advantage in a team fight.

  • Total Cost: 2700g
    • Builds from Lost Chapter (1050g) + Giant’s Belt (1000g) + 650g
  • 300 Health
  • 200 Mana
  • 35 Ability Power
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Tinker: Reduces the cooldown of your active items by 10% (5 second cooldown) when healing and shielding your allies, and by 15% (no cooldown) when immobilizing your enemies.

IXTALI SEEDJAR

Ixtali Seedjar brings something brand new to Wild Rift. This item lets you tap into your inner gardener, roaming the map, collecting and planting seeds as you help allies and set up plays.

We think Ixtali Seedjar will bring new opportunities for support players to make some game-changing plays, whether it be with a clutch Honeyfruit heal for your allies, a Scryer’s Bloom to help secure a dragon, or by leaping over a wall with your very own Blast Cone. We can’t wait to see the unique plays you come up with.

  • Total Cost: 2500g
    • Builds from Chain Vest (900g) + Negatron Cloak (900g) + 700g
  • 45 Armor
  • 45 Magic Resist
  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Propagation: When you or an ally hit a nearby plant, it drops a seed that only you can see. You can pick up and replant that seed at any location on the map.
  • PASSIVE - Spring: 5% movement speed

We will be monitoring the impact of these items closely, and make adjustments if needed. We look forward to and always love hearing your feedback, so please keep sharing your thoughts, builds, and VODs with us!

That's all from us for now, but if you're the type of player who lives for the fight, then get ready to have a spar or two with us for the next item update next year!
