Wild Rift News September 2023

This month we have a whole lot in store for you, with the return of some of our favorite Star Guardians, Hecarim joining the Rift, and the release of Ultimate Spellbook ARAM! We hope you enjoy all the upcoming content, let’s jump into the news!

MECHA SKIN LINE

During the Fighting Spirit patch we brought over the Mecha skinline! We’ve heard a lot of your feedback that you’ve enjoyed these skins, so we wanted to share some of the concept art as well as some insights behind the line!

This thematic’s all about high-tech futuristic machines, which can be a hard concept to combine with high fantasy champions. When we create skins, we start with a world guide to create boundaries for us to stay in to help us make sure that we stick to the theme. For Mecha, the heart lies in the metal and techy elements with the ability to transform. The transformation is something that we really wanted to highlight, so we’ve now made it a part of each of the champion’s intro animations.

We also added some unique details and a little easter egg that some of you hardcore League fans might have already noticed. While we updated these Mecha giant’s armor, we wanted to make them even more like war machines. So you’ll notice that certain attacks have a little recharge or kickback effect which should make you feel like your champion is actually firing a mechanical weapon. And when we designed Mecha Galio’s animations for his ultimate, Hero’s Entrance, we wanted to pay homage to his appearance in Warriors, where he descends from the sky to protect his allies.

HEXTECH LOOT

We’ll also be bringing in some new items to the Hextech Loot system! As always for the first week they are available they will be offered at a discount, then after that they will return to their normal price. The following options will be available in the Mythic Essence Shop in September and October:

JANNA REWORK

Before we head into Patch 4.4, we will have one more balance patch on October 12 at 00:01 UTC. This will include some balance updates, Janna’s rework, and the Stargazer Jax skin which will be released on October 23 00:01 UTC! We hope you’ll enjoy this last balance patch, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you for Patch 4.4!

ULTIMATE SPELLBOOK ARAM

We’re taking Ultimate Spellbook to an icier Rift! You’ll be able to pick and choose from a selection of other champion’s ultimates every game to replace with one of your spells. This time around you’ll also be on the ARAM map rather than our regular rift! Queue up for some frosty fun for a limited time!

Ultimate Spellbook ARAM will be available to play from September 28 00:01 UTC to October 18 23:59 UTC.
