Wild Rift Patch Notes 4.3a

Aug 2, 2023

Vladimir joins the fight this patch, Annie’s rework is almost here, ghost Poros, and of course balance updates! Welcome to Patch 4.3a!

Poros, Bears, and Reapers…oh my! Welcome to Patch 4.3a!

This patch we’re reworking a staple champion, Annie! However, please note that her rework will not be live until August 10 00:01 UTC. But once it’s live we can’t wait to see your un-bear-ably cool plays and hear what you think! And if Annie isn’t your Mid Lane mage of choice, it’s okay, you don’t b-negative about it, because Vladimir, The Crimson Reaper will also be joining the Rift!

Ghost Poros will be joining the Rift this patch too! These fluffy new friends will grant you and your team some extra vision, if you find yourself at a disadvantage. We’re also making some adjustments to some champions and boots after our big updates to the rune system last patch.

That’s all for now but we’ll see you back here for Patch 4.3b!

Reminder: content will be released throughout the patch.

VLADIMIR, THE CRIMSON REAPER

A fiend with a thirst for mortal blood, Vladimir has influenced the affairs of Noxus since the empire’s earliest days. In addition to unnaturally extending his life, his mastery of hemomancy allows him to control the minds and bodies of others as easily as his own. In the flamboyant salons of the Noxian aristocracy, this enabled him to build a fanatical cult of personality around himself—while in the lowest back alleys, it allows him to bleed his enemies dry.

Vladimir will be released on August 17 at 00:01 UTC.

CHAMPION CHANGES

ANNIE

Annie was one of the first champions to join League of Legends and Wild Rift! And while she and her beary best friends are and always will be iconic, we also saw some room to make some adjustments to her kit. We’ve reworked her third ability and her ultimate, which should make her kit feel smoother and more flexible. The changes to her ultimate will allow Annie to send Tibbers at one of her foes, which should allow him to protect her more and also give your enemies a little bit of a jump scare.

  • Base Stats

    • Health per level: 105 → 96
    • Armor per level: 3.9 → 3.5
  • Molten Shield

    • [REMOVED]: Annie shields Tibbers or an ally champion for 3s, absorbing (50/110/170/230+40%AP) damage. Enemies who attack the shield take (25/40/55/70+30%AP) magic damage.
    • [NEW]: Annie shields herself and Tibbers, absorbing (50/110/170/230 + 40% Ability Power) damage and gaining 30/35/40/45% movement speed. Speed bonus decays after 3s.
  • Summon: Tibbers

    • Tibbers stays: 30s → 20s
    • Attack Damage of Tibbers: 50/75/100 + 20% Ability Power → 70/100/130 + 20% Ability Power
    • Enraging Tibbers trigger conditions: Just summoned/Annie casts abilities with [Pyromania] on enemies/when Annie dies → Just summoned/pounces on enemies/ when Annie dies
    • [REMOVED] Tibbers burns nearby enemies, dealing (24/40/56 + 12% Ability Power) magic damage per second
    • [NEW] 2s after casting Tibbers, Annie can activate this ability again, ordering Tibbers to pounce on a target, dealing (120/170/220 + 40% Ability Power) magic damage, and also making the target airborne for 1s.

CAITLYN

The Sheriff of Piltover is always ready to catch and take down any foes that get in her way. However, we wanted to give her traps a little boost so that it’s harder for enemies to escape Piltover’s finest.

  • YORDLE SNAP TRAP

    • Charging time: 30/24/18/12s → 27/22/17/12s

GRAVES

We’re giving Grave’s damage a boost so his foes should be a little more careful when facing him or it might just be the end of the line for them.

  • End of the Line

    • Second half bonus Attack Damage: 70/100/130/160% → 80/110/140/170%
  • Collateral Damage

    • Base damage: 275/425/575 → 300/450/600

GWEN

In the earlier stages of the game we’ve noticed that Gwen is too squishy, which makes it hard for her to lane and participate in early-game skirmishes. So, we’re buffing some of her base stats so that she can look to take more aggressive fights and cut her foes in half during the laning phase.

  • SNIP SNIP!

    • [NEW] Damage ratio to monsters: 80%
  • HALLOWED MIST

    • Cooldown: 20/18/16/14s → 17/16/15/14s
    • Bonus armor and magic resistance: 11/14/17/20 → 14/16/18/20

LEE SIN

Currently, Lee Sin is struggling to make an impact during teamfights, so we’re lending him a hand and boosting the damage on Sonic Wave/Resonating Strike. This should help deal more burst damage and have more of an impact during those important teamfights.

  • Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike

    • Sonic Wave bones Attack Damage: 100% → 105%
    • Resonating Strike bonus: 100~200% → 105~210%

LEONA

Before our changes to items, runes, and boots, we thought Leona was "sun-stoppable" and able to survive teamfights and lock down opponents for her teammates. But lately, she has been unable to pose a threat to her foes, so we’re giving her some buffs to help her get into the fight.

  • Base Stats

    • Base attack: 58 → 62
    • Attack per level: 1.7 → 3
  • SOLAR FLARE

    • Base damage: 100/175/250 → 150/225/300

NILAH

Nilah was the most recent champion to join the Rift, and she was ready to whip her foes into shape! We know she wants to be in the middle of the action, but since her arrival we’ve noticed she hasn’t been able to do that, so we’re slightly buffing her survivability. This should give her more room to show off her skills and be a little more aggressive!

  • Base Stats

    • Base armor: 34 → 37
    • Base health regeneration: 6 → 10
  • FORMLESS BLADE

    • [NEW] Active damage ratio of Formless Blade to monsters: 60%

OLAF

After all our systematic adjustments last patch, this berserker is dealing too much damage. So we’re adjusting some of his damage to keep him from being too strong.

  • Undertow

    • Base attack: 60/120/180/240 → 50/110/170/230
  • Reckless Swing

    • Base attack: 60/120/180/240 → 55/115/175/235

ORNN

While we want this Freljordian demi-god to be the backbone for his team, we don’t want him to also deal the most damage. So we’re nerfing some of his damage to put him more in-line with the other tanks.

  • Base Stats

    • Base attack: 62 → 58
    • Health per level: 128 → 112
  • BELLOWS BREATH

    • Bellows Breath damage: 13/14/15/16% Maximum health → 10/11/12/13% Maximum health
  • SEARING CHARGE

    • Bonus damage: 50% Bonus armor and 50% Bonus magic resistance → 40% Bonus armor and 40% bonus magic resistance

RAKAN

Rakan has flourished with the new runes, so we’re slightly adjusting some of his survivability.

  • Base Stats

    • Base health: 570 → 540
  • BATTLE DANCE

    • Base shield: 45/80/115/150 → 35/70/105/140

RAMMUS

Rammus has been zooming around the Rift since the last patch, and his movement speed is too strong, especially when compared to other champions. We’re adjusting how fast he can roll around so it's more in-line with his speed in previous patches.

  • Base Stats

    • Movement speed during rolling state increases to: 60 + 90/14 × (Level - 1) → 35 + Level × 2
  • DEFENSIVE BALL CURL

    • Armor increase: 60/65/70/75% → 55/60/65/70%

SAMIRA

Compared to other marksmen Samira has a shorter attack range, so we want to empower her to use her abilities to avoid damage in fights. Which we think that will give her the edge she needs in those duels against foes with longer range.

  • FLAIR

    • Bonus Attack Damage: 75/90/105/120% → 80/95/110/125%
  • BLADE WHIRL

    • Cooldown: 30/27/24/21s → 26/23.5/21/18.5s

VOLIBEAR

This demi-god of Freljord is conquering the jungle, but he seems to still be struggling in the Baron lane. We’re increasing some of his sustainability during the laning phase, so that he can perform better when dueling against his lane opponent.

  • FRENZIED MAUL

    • Base health regeneration: 10/20/30/40 → 20/30/40/50
    • [NEW] Damage ratio to monsters: 80%

ZOE

Skilled Zoe players often deal too much damage in the early stage of fight. We are slightly adjusting her damage curve so now she can no longer blow bubbles to the enemies without any punishment in the early stages.

  • PADDLE STAR!

    • Base damage: 45/85/125/165 → 35/75/115/155
    • Maximum base damage: 112.5/212.5/312.5/412.5 → 87.5/187.5/287.5/387.5
  • SLEEPY TROUBLE BUBBLE

    • Damage: 60/115/170/225 + 45% Ability Power → 40/95/150/205 + 50% Ability Power
    • Second half damage: 60/115/170/225 + 45% Ability Power → 40/95/150/205 + 50% Ability Power

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

ITEM CHANGES

GLUTTONOUS GREAVES

After seeing how some of the new boot options have landed, we think that Gluttonous Greaves isn’t providing players enough, especially when compared to the other options. So, we’re giving it a boost!

Stats

  • Attack Damage: 30 → 35

BOOTS OF MANA

Boots of Mana have been too overpowering, so for now we’re adjusting just the stats they provide you, since we still think these new stats will provide a lot for the cost.

Stats

  • Ability Power: 60 → 55
  • Base mana regeneration: 200% → 150%

PLATED STEELCAPS

Currently, Plated Steelcaps are too strong of a pick up, especially when facing assassins, fighters and marksmen. So, we’re slightly adjusting its stats to tone down some of its power.

Block

  • Block to reduce physical damage: 15% → 12%

SYSTEM CHANGES

When you fall behind in-game, most of the map will be dark, making it hard for your team to attempt a comeback or make plays, because anyone could be hiding in your jungle looking to pick you off. So, we’re adding a new mechanic to help when you’re at a disadvantage, which we hope will give you the opportunity to make more comebacks and plays with your teammates. Just don’t forget to give your new friends a head pat or tasty Poro snack!

Ghost Poro mechanic:

  • When an inner turret was destroyed, a ghost Poro will be spawned in the corresponding jungle to provide vision, and it will patrol around the jungle.
  • When found by Poro, the enemy champions will have a small eye effect on their heads to remind them that they have been seen.
