Wild Rift

Wild Rift Patch Notes 3.4a

Sep 28, 2022

It’s time for the Power Spike Party! While we’re ready to celebrate with some goodies, we’re also making some adjustments to the support quest items, Gwen and some other champions across the map. Welcome to 3.4a!

Happy Patch 3.4a day! How’s 3.4 treating you all? How many kills and dragon steals have you gotten with meteor? While we hope you’re having fun raining meteors down from the sky (we are, it's literally all we think about during the day, meteor, it's starting to become a problem) we have your regularly scheduled balance updates to get to.

One of our latest additions to the Rift has been causing quite the ruckus, so we’re going to be nerfing the support quest items, and making adjustments so that it’s no longer optimal for both Dragon Laners to start the item. We’ve also been keeping a close eye on Gwen since her release and are making adjustments to her along with some other champions. The Power Spike Party is taking place this patch, so be sure to grab a slice of cake, hop online, and get some goodies!

We’ve also addressed the negative shield bug that you may have experienced in your games recently that was causing players to die without the death granting normal kill rewards. We talk more about this at the very bottom of the notes, but wanted to make sure we mentioned it here too.

Reminder: content will be released throughout the patch.

RANKED

RANKED S7

092822_RANKEDS7GLORIOUSDRAVEN.jpg

Ranked S7 is right around the corner, and this time around during our climb, you could say we’ve got a bit of an axe to grind. During your ranked games this season, your axeceptional performances will reward you with Glorious Crimson Draven! You’ll also be able to earn Ranked Coins and spend them on some other new goodies in the Ranked Store!

Ranked S7 will begin October 13 at 00:01 UTC

Along with the start of Ranked S7, a new season of Legendary Queue will also be rolling out this patch. In order to keep competitive integrity high in this queue, we'll be introducing a new gate when the new season starts. You will now have to have a certain amount of mastery on a champion before playing them in this queue:

  • At launch the champion score required will be very low (just a few games played)
  • We intend to tune the system, but didn’t want to be too restrictive right out of the gate
  • You’ll always have access to EVERY champion you have enough mastery in, regardless of the role you’re assigned
  • We’ve implemented protection to make sure players aren’t forced to play off-role picks by the system
    • If you’re assigned to a role and have less than three champions available to pick who are tagged for that role with enough mastery, the system will stretch
    • You’ll be allowed to play your highest available mastery champions in that role
    • This is implemented so if for example an ADC main is autofilled jungle, we want to make sure they wouldn’t be forced to play their awesome MF as a jungle but would instead have something more suitable to play

In addition to this, at the start of the season we’ll also be resetting every player’s rank back to Commander IV again in order to provide everyone with the opportunity to once again prove they deserve their ranks. We won’t be resetting MMR though. So if you go from Immortal to Commander, and all of your teammates are Commanders, the matchmaker will still make sure your teammates are all players with similar MMR and therefore skill to you as you make your climb once again.

Legendary Queue Season starts and weekly hours for S7 are:

POWER SPIKE PARTY

What’s a party without some presents? Log in during the party for some goodies! Thank you for always supporting us!

The Power Spike Party event begins October 12 at 00:01 UTC

CHAMPION CHANGES

AHRI

Ahri has been outperforming other mages in the mid lane since the release of her rework. To scale back on some of the sustain she has access to during teamfights, we’re reducing the healing she gains from scoring takedowns with her Essence Theft passive.

  • Base Stats

    • Base heal on takedown: 80 - 200 + 40% Ability Power → 70 - 190 + 30% Ability Power

CAMILLE

Our previous nerfs to Camille have left her blades dull and she’s been underperforming at most levels of play. We’re giving her some more damage in the early game to help with her laning, and slightly increasing her survivability in the later stages of the game.

  • Base Stats

    • Health per level: 115 → 120
  • Tactical Sweep

    • Base damage: 70/110/150/190 → 90/125/160/195

EKKO

Ekko and his time-altering gizmos have been an oppressive force in the jungle, especially when in the hands of a skilled time traveler. To bring him down a notch, we’re reducing how efficiently he can clear jungle camps.

  • Base Stats

    • Bonus damage to monsters: 120% → 110%
  • TIMEWINDER

    • Bonus damage to monsters: 130% → 120%

EVELYNN

It’s never a good eve-ning when you run into a late game Eve. That damage in the later stages of the game, paired with her jungle clears, has been a bit too strong for higher ranked players.

  • HATE SPIKE

    • Ability Power ratio: 45% → 40%

GWEN

Gwen’s laning performance hasn’t seamed too good and is under where we’d like it to be, so we’re giving her early game buffs to help smooth out her lane. However, her jungle performance has been better than other roles, so we’re bringing down her damage to monsters to even out her power between roles.

  • Base Stats

    • Health: 610 → 660
  • Base Stats

    • Maximum Monster damage: 5 + 5% Ability Power → 4 + 4% Ability Power
  • SNIP SNIP!

    • Initial Snip base damage: 10/14/18/22 → 12/16/20/24
    • Final Snip base damage: 50/70/90/110 → 60/80/100/120

KARMA

Despite several nerfs, Karma still remains one of the top performing supports for players who have taken the time to master her. We’re looking to bring down some of her powerful utility this time, so we’re increasing the cooldown on her tether to limit her from casting it twice per fight and reducing the movement speed from non-Mantra Inspire to reduce the amount of power Karma gets when investing Mantra into her other spells.

  • FOCUSED RESOLVE

    • Cooldown: 13s → 15s
  • INSPIRE

    • Non-Mantra Movement Speed: 45% → 30%

KASSADIN

This Void Walker has been extremely powerful in higher levels of play, so we’re reducing both the frequency at which he can restore mana with Nether Blade and adjusting his ultimate, so he can’t Riftwalk all over his foes to victory.

  • NETHER BLADE

    • Cooldown: 8s → 10s
  • RIFTWALK

    • Damage: 80/100/120 + 30% Ability Power + 2% mana → 80/100/120 + 30% Ability Power + 1.5% mana

NAUTILUS

Nautilus hasn’t made the impact that we’d like to see in higher levels of play, so we’re increasing the duration of the stun provided by his passive and reducing the cooldown of Dredge Line so you can hook, line and sink your foes a few more times over the course of your games.

  • Base Stats

    • Root Duration: 0.75s - 1.5s (based on level) → 1s - 1.75s (based on level)
  • DREDGE LINE

    • Cooldown: Reduced from 12/11/10/9s → 11/10/9/8s

PYKE

Pyke’s performance as a support has been somewhat lackluster even as players have invested many games to master him. We’re giving him a few adjustments to help him scrap enemies in lane while limiting his ability to clear waves to ensure he doesn’t exclusively use his newly buffed power to shove and roam.

  • BONE SKEWER

    • Mana cost: 50/55/60/65 → 35/40/45/50
    • Damage to non-champions: 50% → 25%
  • PHANTOM UNDERTOW

    • Cooldown: 14/13/12/11s → 12.5/12/11.5/11s

YASUO

In patch 3.4, we adjusted the cooldown reduction formula associated with Yasuo’s Steel Tempest ability, leading to a decrease in his overall damage output. To compensate for this loss in power, we’re increasing his base Attack Damage and the base damage of his ultimate.

  • Base Stats

    • Base Attack Damage: 58 Attack Damage → 62 Attack Damage
  • Last Breath

    • Base damage: 200/350/500 → 250/350/550

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

ITEMS

BAMI’S CINDER

We missed adjusting Bami’s last patch when we made changes to Sunfire Aegis last patch, so we’re making that adjustment now.

  • Bonus damage to minions and monsters: 25% → 15%

RELIC SHIELD & SPECTRAL SICKLE

While we’re happy to see that the release of new quest items have led to a meaningful increase in agency for the support role, we currently feel that the support economy is ramping up too quickly during the laning phase. To address this, we’re reducing how much gold players earn when consuming charges. Also, to prevent abuse cases with these items in the Dragon Lane, we’re adding a new mechanic to better restrict these items to the support role.

[NEW] If a Support Quest item owner is near an ally that also has a Support Quest item, the player cannot consume charges with their Support Quest Item.

Relic Shield

  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Spoils of War: Item owner minion gold gained per charge consumption: 135% → 120%
  • Minion gold counted towards quest progress: 63% → 58%

Spectral Sickle

  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - Tribute: Gold gained per charge consumption: 30 → 25

RIFTMAKER

While Riftmaker finally made its debut on the Rift, its performance as an early item pick up has been lackluster. We want it to shine in the early stages of the game so we’re giving it a small nudge to help it compete with the other early game choices.

Base Stats

  • Ability Power: 70 → 80

SOLARI CHARGEBLADE

Despite being the primary caster attack speed crit item, Solari Chargeblade often gets beat out by other attack speed items in the later slots for crit caster carries. Some adjustments to the stats here should help Chargeblade be a more competitive option for a larger cast of champions.

Base Stats

  • Attack Speed: 30% → 40%
  • Ability Haste: 15 → 20

RUNE CHANGES

DOMINATION: LETHAL TEMPO

Over time as players have optimized builds, Lethal Tempo has shown to be slightly weaker than other keystone options. We’re giving it some small all-around buffs to help it compete with other options.

Effect

  • Attack Speed per Stack: Increased from 6% - 12% (melee), 3%-9% (ranged) → 7% - 13% (melee), 4% - 10% (ranged)
  • Max Stack Bonus: 30% → 40%

SYSTEM CHANGES

PHYSICAL AND MAGIC VAMP REPLACED BY OMNIVAMP

The vamps provided by following items & abilities will be replaced by equivalent Omnivamp

  • Gluttonous Greaves
  • Maw of Malmortius
  • Lee Sin (2) Safeguard

EXTRA BITS

  • Fixed some interactions where decaying shields could gain negative values, causing players who died with negative shield values in some cases to not give kill credit properly to the killer (or kill rewards). There may still be some rare cases of loss of kill credit which we will fix holistically in 3.5, but for now this temporary fix should cover most negative shield issues.
