The Champions Tour is back! Here’s everything you need to know

Jan 9, 2022

We’re thrilled to kick off the First Open Qualifier of the 2022 VALORANT Champions Tour in EMEA, where twelve teams from Europe, CIS and Turkey will fight for glory in the toughest of regions!

FORMAT OVERVIEW AND INVITED TEAMS

The top four dominating EMEA teams have already gotten a slot: Fnatic, ACEND, Gambit and Team Liquid. The next four contestants - two from EU, and one from each CIS and TR - will come through a single-elimination, BO3 bracket with up to 256 teams from each region. The four top teams in each region will then take on four invited teams, from the same region, who accumulated the most VCT circuit points last season - and have kept at least three out of five players from the 2021 roster - but didn’t make it to Champions 2021. These invited teams are:

  • EU: G2, BDS, Alliance, Tenstar
CIS: OBG, 5M (ex. GMT), NAVI, KPI
Turkey: FUT, BBL, FireFlux, Zero Zone

The last four teams will be decided by another Open Qualifier, with up to 256 teams, in which the top four teams in each region will face-off against the best four teams from the first Closed Qualifier, who did not make it to Challengers the first time. The two winning teams from Europe, along with the winners from Turkey and CIS, will then join the winning teams from the first Closed Qualifier, to make up the Challengers Stage 1 line-up.

MENA teams can take part in a qualifier of their choice.

SCHEDULE

The Open Qualifier will take place between January 10th and January 12th, with games starting at 6pm CET / 6pm GMT+3 in CIS and TR.

The Closed Qualifier will take place between January 13th and January 16th, with games starting at 6pm CET for EU on January 13th / 6pm GMT+3 for CIS & TR and at 5pm CET for EU on January 14th, 15th & 16th / 5pm GMT+3 for CIS & TR.
