Feb 22, 2022

FunPlus Phoenix, Fnatic, and Guild Esports currently reign over their respective groups, but their competitors are hot on their heels and looking for an opportunity to topple these VALORANT titans.

Miss any of the action? Or simply looking to relive a week characterized by insane plays? Here’s a recap of everything Week 2 brought to the table.

Group A: From FPX dominance to Team Liquid’s Neon

As we mentioned before, FPX have fought their way to the top of Group A against some of VALORANT’s strongest competitors – but the road to the throne was by no means easy. Standing in their was was Gambit, one of CIS’ most decorated squads. In a back and forth series that saw FPX struggle on Bind, the squad finally secured the win on Icebox.

Over on Haven, Team Liquid had fans on the edge of their seats. Pulling out new Agent and feisty Filipina, Neon, on the map, Liquid left NAVI in the dust. Ending the series 2 - 1, Liquid secured their first win of Challengers EMEA Stage 1.

Group B: Acend finally fall

All eyes were on Group B’s match between Guild Esports and Acend, the reigning Champions who had continued their dominant run ever since. While the squad showed Guild who was boss on Split, London’s finest reverse swept Acend in a series of dominant wins on Breeze and Fracture.

Fellow Brits, Fnatic, also came out of the gates blazing this week, demolishing Turkish representatives, BBL Esports on Icebox. While some spectacular solo plays from Ali Osman ‘AsLanM4shadoW’ Balta kept the game alive, BBL couldn’t weather the storm that was Jake ‘Boaster’ Howlett, Nikita ‘Derke’ Sirmitev, and Andrey ‘BraveAF’ Gorchakov.

G2 Esports also followed in the footsteps of their rivals, pulling out the Cypher across Split and Haven to leave Turkey’s SuperMassive Blaze lagging at the bottom of the table.
