Week 2 & 3 Recap: All of the action from EMEA’s Regional Leagues

Mar 7, 2022

So, without further ado, let’s delve into the world of EMEA VALORANT so that you’re up to date with all of the action from Weeks 2 and 3.

VALORANT Regional League DACH: Evolution

Did we hear a squeak? More like a roar, as MOUZ take themselves even further into the lead following Week 2’s matches. Dismantling SPARKZ Gaming on Haven using that ever-popular Cypher pick, they drew with Ovation later that week in a back and forth series.

While the squad continued their impressive run into the start of Week 3, they were dismantled by Dsyre after a shaky game on Ascent. As the two teams battle it out for a place at the top, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not MOUZ are forced to retreat with tails between their legs.

VALORANT Regional League East: Surge

Another week, and yet another insane showing from relative newcomers l3wandowski (now NOM eSports) – we can still hear that Polska Gurom! Taking down both Entropiq and AWARIA in Week 2 using the might of robotic Initiator, KAY/O, the squad have cemented themselves as one to watch.

Continuing to show up and shut down in Week 3, the squad took down Gamerland in an intense best of 3, where overtime finally determined who walked away from Ascent with the win. Second and third place teams Anonymo Mentos Esports and Anorthosis Famagusta Esports made their presence known, with not a single loss between them this week.

VALORANT Regional League France: Revolution

France also saw slight disruption due to world affairs, meaning that there will be a few reshuffles in terms of schedule. At the moment, though, Sector One reign supreme over esports titans Team BDS, Team Vitality, and OG, each of whom had a bit of a rocky Week 2 and 3.

The highly anticipated matchup between OG and Vitality ended in a draw, characterized by Vitality running more obscure Agents like Breach. While the games were relatively close, OG will have to reassert their dominance against BDS in Week 4.

VALORANT Regional League MENA: Resilience

MENA’s Regional League is split into two different sections: GCC & Iraq, and Levant & North Africa.

GCC & Iraq

Can you hear the cry of the Falcon? We can, as GCC & Iraq’s top squad have made it through into playoffs following a dominant run. Hot on their heels are Team Duelist, who netted four wins in Week 3.

Unfortunately, we said goodbye to redCore for personal reasons, meaning that all of their upcoming games will be forfeited.

Levant & North Africa

Levant & North Africa has seen quite the shakeup in Week 2. aAa left the competition following personal issues, effectively forfeiting their games. While official rule changes are yet to be put in place, fans of the squad bid their heroes farewell for now.

The show must go on, however, with Team RA’AD topping the tables at the moment with no losses. Week 3 was also a good week for XPLDZ, who didn’t drop a series and moved themselves a little higher up the ladder. With NASR yet to take on Team Majesty, it’ll be interesting to see if the latter squad can reclaim their fearsome reputation.

VALORANT Regional League Northern Europe: Polaris

Channeling some of that Dota 2 majesty, Alliance find themselves at the top of the Polaris table without having dropped a series. Their games against British titans, EXCEL, saw them emerge victorious with a 2 - 0, but the squad had quite the struggle against KOVA on Haven, where their adventurous Neon pick didn’t quite echo Team Liquid’s VCT Challengers Stage 1 prowess.

TUNDRA had a bit more luck with the feisty Filipina, however, decimating London Esports on Fracture in Week 2 with speedy plays and lightning fast action. This didn’t translate across to Week 3, as they dropped a game against EXCEL on the same map with the same Agent. Tied with Britain’s finest for second place, all eyes are on whether or not they can knock Alliance off of the top spot in Week 4.

VALORANT Regional League Spain: Rising

Yes, you read that right, former First Strike winners Team Heretics are at the bottom of the table. While the squad put up a fight against Week 2 headliners KOI and Team Queso, a dramatic defeat by Rebels Gaming has sent the squad back down to the bottom of the pack.

KOI, however, have risen from the ashes thanks to some insane plays by Joona ‘H1ber’ Parviainen on Jett and Raze, alongside Ladislav "Sacake" Sachr on the Sova. While they fell to Giants in Week 3, these two players have proven that they’re ones to watch.

VALORANT Regional League Turkey: Birlik

Turkey has proven itself numerous times as one of VALORANT’s most competitive regions, but Week 3 of Birlik cements what we’ve known for years: Turkey is here to play. With three teams vying for first place and three more competing for third, the results are tight and the matches even tighter.

Fire Flux Esports, Futbolist, and Surreal Esports all picked up comfortable 2 - 0s until the end of Week 2, where the latter were taken out in a shocking series against Thunderbolts Gaming. Down but not out, all three squads returned in Week 3 with all fired up, walking away with yet another sweep of 2 - 0s.
