VCT Stage 1 - Challengers EMEA Week 6: Fnatic, M3 Champions & FPX make playoffs

With the remainder of the tournament full to bursting with age-old rivalries and hotly anticipated matchups, some of esports’ finest will be duking it out to snag themselves a shot at Masters: Reykjavík glory.

If you missed any of the action, or simply want to relive the final weekend of the group stages, here’s our rundown of VCT Challengers EMEA Week 6.

Group A: M3 Champions are back

CIS squad, M3 Champions, took Week 6 by storm. Taking down BIG, NAVI, and LDN UTD without dropping a single game, the combined might of Ayaz ‘nAts’ Akhmetshin and Timofey ‘Chronicle’ Khromov secured the team their playoff spot in style.

FPX also took down NAVI in a back and forth series of games. While Kamil ‘baddyG’ Graniczka taking Kirill ‘ANGE1’ Karasiow’s spot on the roster was a cause for some concern, they walked away with a decisive 2 - 1 victory and a shot at taking home the trophy.

Group B: A perfect group stage run for Fnatic

While Week 6 only saw one Group B game, it’s safe to say that it was easily the most highly anticipated of the week; GUILD vs. Fnatic.

Things didn’t start particularly well for the boys in black and orange, as GUILD demolished the British titans on Haven with little issue. In true Fnatic style, though, out came the reverse sweep across Bind and Split, largely at the behest of Nikita ‘Derke’ Sirmitev.

Pulling out explosive Raze plays and starting the party, the series’ MVP pulled the squad back from the brink, securing them that coveted playoffs spot and a perfect 5 - 0 run.
