DACH dominance: A stellar performance for Central Europe

With British titans, EXCEL, and Turkey’s SuperMassive Blaze failing to make it out of group stages, the battle lines were drawn for BIG, FOKUS, Surreal Esports, and Rebels Gaming.

FOKUS’ path to glory started out a little shaky, as the squad dropped a game to Turkey’s Surreal Esports in a back and forth series for the ages. Progressing to face SuperMassive Blaze, the squad took down the Challengers Stage 1 qualifiers in a swift 2 - 0, moving on to face BIG. With Jakob ‘JUGi’ Hansen leading his team to victory with a series of insane plays on Jett and new Duelist, Neon, the DACH: Evolution champions swept their countrymen aside in an impressive 3 - 0.

For BIG, the lower bracket awaited. With Surreal Esports beating out Anonymo Mentos and Rebels Gaming, the end was in sight. BIG, however, shattered their hopes with a 3 - 0 win across Bind, Icebox, and Fracture. With Karel ‘Twisten’ Ašenbrener fragging out on Jett and Raze, BIG are back in black and looking to take names.

With fire in their eyes and excitement in their veins, we can’t wait to see how the two squads perform in the next stage of VCT. Until then, though, all eyes are on Masters Reykjavík to see who emerges victorious.
