BME Superdome recap: Fnatic take the tournament

Oct 23, 2022

If you’ve been lamenting the distinct lack of VALORANT since VCT Champions ended in September, the BME Superdome is the first in a series of OFF//SEASON tournaments that will see some of EMEA’s most famous faces juke it out once more.

Framed by the magnificent backdrop of Cairo, Egypt, EMEA titans Fnatic and Acend joined some of the Middle East’s best teams in a battle for the ages, ultimately facing off against one another for the Superdome crown.

So, if you need your October VALORANT fix (it’s even better than a pumpkin spice latte), here’s our recap of the BME Superdome.

Fnatic vs Acend: A tale as old as time

Coming out of the group stage at the top, Acend had victory in their sights. Only dropping a single game to Team RA’AD whilst also taking down Fnatic in the explosive last game of groups, they fastracked straight into the grand finale while fellow contenders Fnatic, Geekay, and Team RA’AD battled it out in the playoffs.

Geekay took down RA’AD 2 - 0 in the quarterfinals, moving on to meet Fnatic in the semis. Unfortunately, the squad’s impressive run was brought to an abrupt end, as the boys in black and orange pulled out all the stops on Breeze and Icebox.

Facing off against Acend once more in the finals, their signature map Icebox was up first, letting the squad flex their muscles and assert their dominance. Bind followed a similar pattern and, while a little closer, the win still went over to Britain’s finest.
