Verizon VCT Game Changers Series 3: Everything You Need To Know

The excitement of the VCT continues with Game Changers Series 3, the final showdown between the top North American teams to determine who will join the first-ever international Game Changers event in Berlin.

The Verizon VCT Game Changers Series 3 registration period opens on September 14th and closes on September 21st, with all teams making a play for the Main Event and a chance to compete against the top teams from around the world.

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

Open Qualifier games begin on October 6th with 48 teams participating in a GSL-style format where matches will be best-of-three. The top 24 teams will advance to a double-elimination bracket, with the top eight teams receiving a bye to the second round of the Upper Bracket. The Upper Bracket will conclude after three rounds (four teams remaining), with the Lower Bracket determining the final four of the top eight teams.

The Main Event continues on October 12th with a double-elimination tournament against the top 8 teams. All matches will be best-of-three until the Lower Finals on October 15th and the Grand Finals on October 16th, which will both be best-of-five. Teams will compete for a share of the $50,000 prize pool and one of the two guaranteed spots for North America at the Game Changers World Championship.

There will be a total of 200 points available for the top 8 placed teams throughout the tournament, with the team with the most circuit points automatically qualifying for the second World Championship slot.

Point distribution will be as follows:

  • 2nd Place: 60 points
  • 3rd Place: 50 points
  • 4th Place: 40 points
  • 5th - 6th Place: 30 points
  • 7th - 8th Place: 20 points

Anyone who wishes to host a Watch Party must read and agree to our VCT Watch Party Guidelines and comply with the following steps in order to gain permission to co-stream the event:

  • If you’re broadcasting from North America, sign up to host a Watch Party here. All NA Watch Parties must comply with the Watch Party Guidelines. If you can do both, you’re clear to kick off your Watch Party come game day.
  • If you’re broadcasting from anywhere else in the world, apply to host an International Watch Party here. Then, keep an eye on your email. Please allow a few days for review. If your application is approved you’ll receive a message from us giving you permission.
