Verizon VCT Game Changers Series 2 Starts June 30!

Jun 28, 2022

The Verizon VCT Game Changers Series 2 Open Qualifier kicks off this Thursday, June 30 through Sunday, July 3 with 48 teams making their play for the Main Event. The Main Event begins on July 6 with the top eight North American teams competing for a chance at joining the global stage later this year.

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

Verizon VCT Game Changers Series 2 has expanded to a 48-team Open Qualifier that runs from June 30 to July 3. Teams will start their journey with five rounds of Swiss competition, where qualification and elimination matches will be best-of-three. The top 24 teams from Swiss will advance to a double-elimination bracket, with the top eight teams receiving a bye to the second round of the upper bracket. Matches will continue to be best-of-one unless they are for qualification or elimination. The upper bracket will conclude after three rounds (four teams remaining), with the lower bracket determining the final four of the top eight teams.

The top eight teams will advance to the Main Event, a double-elimination bracket, beginning on July 6. All matches will be best-of-three until the Grand Final on July 9, which will be a best-of-five. Teams will compete for a share of the $50,000 prize pool and earn points for Game Changers World Championship qualification.

There will be a total of 410 points available for the top 16 placed teams throughout each Verizon VCT Game Changer Series. Point distribution will be as follows:

  • 1st Place: 20% or 80 points
  • 2nd Place: 15% or 60 points

  • 4th Place: 10% or 40 points
