Wild Rift Real Talk - September 15 2020

Sep 15, 2020

Each week, we’ll talk about current trends and concerns in the Wild Rift community. Here’s what you can expect from the team!

Hey folks!

I’m Brian Feeney (some of you might know me as FeralPony), and I’m the Design Director on League of Legends: Wild Rift! I work with the game design folks here on everything from champs, to balance, to ranked and beyond. Before joining Wild Rift, I worked on a ton of teams across League of Legends PC. A fun fact about me: I have a bunch of animals, two of which you can meet in the latest /dev diary we released a few days ago:

I’m here today because I want to talk a little about what you can expect from Wild Rift now and in the near future. Since the game was announced back in October 2019, we’ve seen your passion, your questions, and your demands(!) for more info; we know we’ve been pretty quiet for a while, but you can expect us to make a bunch more noise as we roll out to more of you in the Regional Closed Beta. We’ve made a lot of improvements to the game since our Alpha test a few months ago, and we can’t wait to see what you pull off with the new champs and tweaks we’ve made since then.

Some of you will be current or returning League players (hello again!), and many of you might be brand new to the world of League. At Riot, “Player Experience First” is basically written on the walls of our offices (...sometimes, literally). Whomever you are, whatever your experience with League or Wild Rift, we need your thoughts and feedback to make the best MOBA we can on mobile and console. We want to hear the good stuff as well as (and especially) the spicy stuff.

You can expect to see posts and updates like this from the team every week as we go through our first Regional Closed Beta, which started a couple of days ago in some Southeast Asian regions. We’ll cover everything from gameplay updates, design talk, Q&As, new features, or just progress on things we’re working on. We want to be transparent about decisions we make, features we add, or issues you’re seeing, and we know this is only the beginning of Wild Rift’s journey to launch!

In the meantime, there’s a ton of stuff that just dropped this week, so I’ve left some useful links at the bottom to get you up to speed.

See you next time,

Brian & the Wild Rift team
