The Legends of Runeterra World Championship

The Legends of Runeterra World Championship is coming! From Sept 16-18, the best players in the world will compete for the title of World Champion and more than $200,000 in prizes. The LoR World Championship is a unique event which will bring fans and competitors together to witness the most creative outplays our game has to offer and discover who is the best-of-the-best in the game. Fans will be able to follow the action on Twitch.tv and YouTube across three days of broadcasts.

  • Day 1, Sept 16 - Broadcast begins: 8:00 AM PT
  • Day 2, Sept 17 - Broadcast begins: 8:00 AM PT
  • Day 3, Sept 18 - Broadcast begins: 8:00 AM PT

To celebrate this moment we are going to be sharing some new cosmetic rewards with viewers and players who are active during the World Championship. We’re starting off with a free cardback and icon bundle in the store for all players from patch 2.14.0. Viewers who tune into the semi-finals broadcast on the 16th and 17th will be eligible to collect a unique cardback and player icon specific to the event! Finally, for the finals, we will be dropping a new fist-bump emote for everyone who joins us on the stream on the 18th. Additionally, as a small thank you to everyone who competes we will be awarding a very rare World Champion Competitor cardback and icon.

The Journey to the World Championship

Throughout 2021, players from Asia, SEA, Europe, and the Americas had the opportunity to qualify for the World Championship through ranked play and seasonal tournaments. The top 256 competitors from these regions will next face off in the World Championship Qualifiers on September 4th and 5th. These qualifiers will narrow down the field to the sixteen players we will see at the World Championship. The final sixteen will consist of a small group of regional finalists who represent the best talent from their region.

  • Americas - 6 Players
  • Europe - 5 Players
  • Asia and SEA - 5 Players

To be eligible for the Qualifiers, players must compete from a region where Legends of Runeterra has officially launched. Make sure to follow @PlayRuneterra on Twitter and keep checking back to the LoR website in the coming weeks as we reveal broadcast talent, share predictions, and release additional content about the event!

How to Earn Twitch & Youtube Drops

Step 1 - Connect your Riot Account to your Twitch or Google account

First off, it’s important to clarify that Twitch.TV and Prime Gaming (formerly known as Twitch Prime) are separate. A lot of our players may have already linked to Prime Gaming (which is awesome). However, these Drops are different, and only eligible for those who connect their Riot Account to their Twitch.TV account. This allows everyone to reap the rewards, whether they have Prime or not. For Youtube, you will need to sign in and connect your Google Account to your Riot Account. All you'll need to do is find Riot Games and click Connect, and follow the simple steps.

Step 2 - Watch the competition on Twitch or Youtube

On September 16-18, tune into the Legends of Runeterra World Championship Twitch or Youtube Broadcast, while they are live! Drops are applicable category-wide on Twitch, so fans can tune into any Legends of Runeterra broadcast during the championship! If all the requirements are met and a drop is awarded, it will be attributed to your Riot Account automatically, just be aware that this is not instant.

Step 3 - Show off your exclusive cardback, icon, or emote

Once you see the cardback, icon, or emote in your Legends of Runeterra account, you can equip them right away. These items are exclusive and can't be earned in any other way, so show them off proudly!
